Overview
Welcome to the care of the older adult elective module. As you know, we are an ageing population. With this brings some complexities and challenges of ensuring you are able to provide comprehensive and inclusive care to older people presenting to your UCC. This module discusses the pathophysiological, social, and healthcare associated challenges you may encounter when caring for older adults in your UCC. It also describes the Safer Care Victoria recommended risk assessments that older adults should have performed, cognitive impairment, end of life care, and advanced care directives.
