Bedside teaching is a dynamic and flexible model of education whereby our highly experienced Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs) attend your UCC to support you in applying the theoretical knowledge and concepts from the online content at the bedside. Co-ordinated by our team and your health service management, we deliver customised, site-specific education to our learners. Some examples of our bedside teaching are:
- Clinical assessment skills.
- Triage decision-making support.
- Recognising and escalation of acute clinical deterioration.
- Critical thinking and clinical reasoning.
- Priorities of care.
- Non-technical skills such as communication, handover etc.
- Safe stabilisation and transfer of patients to larger centres.
The only pre-requisite of having a bedside teaching is that your management has approved the visit and that you have completed the four core RUCN program modules. Our educators will be in touch with your health service leadership team to discuss bedside teaching availability so we hope to see you all on site soon!
