Ms Cristina Roman

Cristina Roman is the Lead Pharmacist at The Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre with over 10 years of clinical experience in emergency medicine. She manages a team of pharmacists that provide comprehensive clinical services to the Emergency and Trauma Centre across extended hours. Current services include daily Emergency Short Stay ward round involvement, Partnered Pharmacist Medication Charting in collaboration with the medical officer, involvement in Stroke Callouts, Stroke Alerts, Sepsis Alerts and Code STEMI.

In addition to clinical practice, she is the current chair of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) Emergency Medicine Leadership Committee, member of the Safer Care Victoria Emergency Care Clinical Network Insight Committee and the Behaviours of Concern Expert Working Group. Cristina is the current supervisor of the first Australian Advanced Training Resident in Emergency Medicine pharmacy endorsed by the SHPA.

In line with her passions, Cristina is currently completing a part time PhD with Monash University, Centre for Medication Use and Safety, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences focusing on early pharmacist involvement in resuscitation including stroke, sepsis and severe trauma. This has led to the expansion of Emergency Medicine (EM) pharmacist roles both locally and nationally through practice-based research and interdisciplinary collaboration, with 20 publications in peer reviewed journals.

Cristina has previously supervised masters student research projects, pharmacy foundation resident research project and pharmacy student projects. In addition to being a previous moderator and tutor for the Monash University Pharmacy Masters program. She is an expert reviewer for Emergency Medicine Australasia and the Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research.
